Dermaplane

Do you find yourself looking in the mirror at an uneven, dull complexion? Does your make up application appear blotchy?  A dermaplaning treatment is a perfect way to instantly reveal smooth, radiant, and more youthful-looking skin. This treatment has virtually no downtime, and yields instant results. Whether you have an important event coming up where you want your make up to be flawless, or your skin just needs a pick me up, dermaplaning is an ideal way to achieve beautiful results without the hassle of downtime or having to do a series of treatments in order to see results.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique in which your skincare professional uses a sterile, rounded scalpel to skim the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair, otherwise known as “peach fuzz”.  As a result, patients can enjoy better product absorption and a flawless make up application. The treatment is virtually painless and results are seen immediately. Dermaplaning can be performed as a standalone treatment or in combination with a facial or chemical peel, otherwise known as a “dermapeel”. Your skincare professional will discuss the different options appropriate for your skin type of desired results. The overall goal of treatment is to make skin appear brighter, smoother, and youthful.

Who can get Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is safe for any skin type and condition, with the exception of active inflamed acne. This treatment is able to diminish the look of fine lines, discoloration, dryness, and can even help to prevent future breakouts. It is a safe option for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dermaplaning can help with the following skin conditions:

  • Sun damage
  • Dull skin
  • Dry skin
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Unwanted facial hair

Following a dermaplaning treatment, you will need to be extra diligent about sunscreen use. It is not recommended to leave your house without sunscreen, as this can reverse the results of a dermaplaning treatment. It is also recommended to make sure your pillowcase, phone, make up brushes, or anything that makes direct contact with your face is clean. This is because your skin is much more exposed in the days following a dermaplaning treatment. Minor redness and sensitivity can occur, although generally subsides within 24 hours.

Dermaplaning is an increasingly popular treatment for very good reasons. A luminous glow can be achieved quickly, painlessly, and with no downtime.  Results last for several weeks, and home care products work much more efficiently. Almost anyone is able to enjoy the benefits of a professional dermaplaning treatment.
